Jacek Kortus

He graduated from the Music Academy in Poznań – Waldemar Andrzejewski’s piano class.

He is a laureate of many national and international piano competitions, i.a. the International Chopin Piano Competition in Szafarnia (3rd prize, 1999), International Chopin Piano Competition “Chopin for the Youngest” in Antonin (1st prize in 2000 and 2005), Polish Chopin Competition in Żagań (2nd prize in 2001), Ludwik Stefański Polish Piano Competition in Płock (1st prize in 2002), I Władysław Kędra Polish Chopin Competition in Łódź (2nd prize in 2002, the 1st prize was not handed out), International Competitions for Young Pianists “Arthur Rubenstein in Memoriam” in Bydgoszcz (special prize in 2004). In 2003 he was a finalist of the Stefan Seiler International Piano Competition in Kitzingen. In the 2005’s Polish Piano Competition for candidates for the 15th International Chopin Piano Competition he reached the 3rd stage. In the 15th International Chopin Piano Competition in 2010 he reached the 2nd stage.

In 2002 he received a scholarship from the Jolanta and Aleksander Kwaśniewscy Foundation "Help For Young Talents". Twice, in 2002 and 2005, he received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture.
