Joanna Ławrynowicz

Joanna Ławrynowicz is one of the greatest Polish pianists. She was born in Warsaw in the family that had been involved in music for many generations . At the age of four, she started to learn to play the piano and her first educator was Hanna Lachertowa. She graduated with distinction from The Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in Professor Teresa Manasterska's class. After graduation, she continued her education with Professor Halina Czerny-Stefańska until her death in 2001.

She has won many prestigious international piano competitions, including The Steinway&Sons Competition for Young Pianists (Berlin 1990),The International Chopin Competition( Darmstadt 1999), The International Piano Competition of Halina Czerny-Stefańska in Ajigasawa (Japan 2000) and The International Piano Competition "Art Livre" in Sao Paulo (Brazil 2001) .

For several years she has been giving numerous concerts both as a solo and chamber pianist. She has already performed worldwide ( Europe, Asia, North and South America and New Zealand). To her credit, there are many prestigious concerts in Poland and abroad, marked by the participation of distinguished orchestras and outstanding conductors .

As a Polish pianist, she is renowned for running abounding phonographic activity. She has already recorded more than 20 albums for Acte Prealable, including the complete solo and chamber works of Fryderyk Chopin (which has never been achieved by any Polish artist before), all compositions for violin and piano, solo piano compositions and piano concerto by Romuald Twardowski; the complete chamber works and piano concertos by Henryk Melcer; Władysław Żeleński's solo piano compositions and the complete chamber works of Józef Elsner and Zygmunt Stojowski. Most of the compositions recorded by the artist have become the world phonographic premieres . Her albums, which are acclaimed by the lovers of classical music and highly appreciated by music critics, are getting very good reviews and they have received distinctions from the best music magazines worldwide.

The pianist is engaged in holding courses and seminars both in Poland and abroad, including the USA ( Indiana University, Bloomington), China, Lithuania and France (The Boulogne Billancourt Conservatory in Paris). She was one of the judges during The international piano competitions in Varenna (Italy) and in Luck (Ukraine).
The artist has also written numerous piano performance instructions, published by Polish Music Publishers. Now the pianist is working as a tutor at The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, in the piano class .

Andrzej Karałow

Andrzej Karałow (b. 1991) is a Polish pianist, composer and improviser based in Warsaw, Poland. He is an assistant lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Doctor of musical arts.
Andrzej Karałow is a laureate of many national and international piano competitions, e.g. Milosz Magin Competition in Paris, Konzerteum in Athens, or Frederic Chopin National Competition in Warsaw. Equally successful as a composer, he is a prize winner of, among others, the 2nd Karol Szymanowski International Composition Competition in Katowice, “Opus 966” Composition Competition in Poznań, Opera Compostion Competition in Miskolc, Hungary, where he was praised for his professionalism, imagination and artistic sensibility.

He performed in prestigious concert halls in the country and abroad, also with accompaniment of renowned orchestras as Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra (debut in Warsaw Philharmony), Sinfonia Varsovia, Polish Radio Orchestra under the baton of Ewa Strusińska, Maciej Niesiołowski and Jakub Chrenowicz.
His works are performed in country and abroad during concerts and festivals in USA, Australia, Canada, Spain, Germany, France, Russia, Italy, Estonia and Hungary. Recordings of his works and performances were released on 10 CD albums by Ablaze Records, DUX Records, Requiem Records, Chronicles of Warsaw Autumn – Festival of Contemporary Music and others.
In 2018 he released his debut album “Wir” (The Vortex) with electroacoustic improvised works in collaboration with Jerzy Przeździecki. During this year he also works on his monographic album as well as on CD with music of XX and XXI with saxophonist Pablo Sanchez-Escariche Gasch. Duo is working together since 2016 and is collaborating internationally with composers who are dedicating new works for them.
He took part in composition masterclasses during Contemporary Music Lab in Montreal, VIPA Festival in Valencia, Synthetis course in Radziejowice (2014, 2016), Impuls Festival in Graz (2015), Summer Music Academy in Nice (2013) and in Warsaw in classes of: of B. Furrer, Chen Yi, S. Gervasoni, Z. Krauze, M. Wagner, J.M. Sanchez-Verdu, D. Ammann, P. Patterson and others.

He trained interpretive skills on piano masterclasses, among others, in Bergen (Holland Music Sessions, 2015), Imola (Summer Piano Academy & Festival, 2015), Leipzig (International Felix Mendelssohn Academy, 2014), Nice (Summer Academy of Music w Nicei, 2013), Duszniki-Zdrój (Pianistic courses during 66. and 68. International Chopin Festival in 2011, 2013), Oxford (Oxford Philomusica Festival, 2008-10) under the direction of professors such as A. Vardi, G. Graffman, M. Vosskresensky, B. Petrushansky, P. Gililov and others.

Although classical music is the main field of his activity, he is also open to experiments in electronic and alternative genre, combining techniques and inspirations from various fields of art into his own, unique musical language.



In 2015 he completed his Master Degree with First-Class Honours in Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw with specialisation in piano in class of prof. Bronisława Kawalla. In 2016 he completed, also with First-Class Honours at his home university in composition class of prof. Stanisław Moryto. At this year he also finished artistic apprentisenship in piano class of prof. Kawalla. He studied chamber music with ad. Iwona Mironiuk and electronic music in class of dr Barbara Okoń-Makowska and mgr Wojciech Błażejczyk. In 2017 he received a Magna Cum Laude honours at his university.

Andrzej Karałow is a co-founder and member of Ensemblage Foundation which promotes new music and performers. He is also a member of ZAiKS polish association of authors and member of Youth Circle Polish Composers Association in Warsaw. He is also a co-founder of internet magazine Spektrum focused on new art.
